Author/ illustrator visits for the enrichment of all:
Robert Cahill – northern citizen & presenter on Inuit life and global warming. (Feb.)
Kenneth Oppel- Education Week presenter for grade 5 students. (March)
Contests – Win-a-book-a-week Funky Facts skill testing contest.
Orientations – programs to familiarize students in all grades with library resources and procedures
Weekly Book Exchange/Literacy Support –Our library offers a huge range of choices for practicing literacy skills. Weekly Bk. Exchange includes a planned program + connecting kids with appropriate personal selections.
Information Literacy/Technology Skills/Internet Training – Research projects for grades 3 to 6, written & directed by the teacher librarian in an active learning environment. Upon project completion, the format usually leads to oral presentation.)· Countries of Origin Fair/Canadian Mosaic projects for grade 6’s · Immigration Top Tens projects for grade 5’s

Teacher Support co-operative planning re: I.R.P’s and curriculum support …of huge value to all our split classes.
Parent Support – creation of parent Reference Materials section and borrowing privileges for families – provision of passwords for parent and child access to online educational databases licensed to SD.23 such as World Book
- organizing and promoting Student/Parent at Home Loan program for educational CD's such as Cross Country Canada, Cross Country Canada Photo Safari, All the Right Type, and Abacus (Math).
Collection Management –Selection of materials chosen to encourage recreational & curricular reading K-6…keeping the collection current…training & supervising clerical staff.
Community Spirit/ Special Events
·Scholastic Book Fairs Fundraising: During this event, the TL trains/supervises student staff to completely run the fair. Students must complete Student Staff job applications & training sessions. Great outcomes: kids and parents making choices together/kids saving & counting their cash/kids helping kids. (Dec.8 & 9)
·Read and Recycle: kids bring gently loved books they are finished with and exchange for others.(Th.Mar.3)
·Country Fair: grade 6 classes prepare and serve food from the country of their research projects and the whole school comes through for tours and tastings.
Support of School Initiatives:
-Professional Development representative and co-coordinator for Teaching Staff
-assisting with materials for LTTA School focus.
Support of Board initiatives:
-contributing to the education of future teachers by helping student teachers.
